In 1979, licensed funeral director James Giragosian took over an established funeral home in the Watertown area. The former Charles Mardirosian Funeral Home, which had been in business since 1932, was the sight that Mr. Giragosian envisioned as his funeral home. As Mr. Mardirosian reached retirement age, he wanted to pass on the business that he had worked so hard at for over 40 years and this change in ownership took place in February 1979.
Mr. James Girgosian, known to many as "Jack" enthusiastically entered the field with new ideas and visions for the future. He and his wife Susan began remodeling the funeral home by adding new colors and décor. His improvements continued with the handicapped-accessible ramp, new doors, windows and a remodel of all the interior rooms as well as the exterior of the funeral home. The changes were done slowly in order to give people a chance to feel comfortable within a dignified and warm setting.
